We extend our deepest gratitude to God Almighty for His blessings and guidance, through which the proposal for ROICAM-13 (The Role of Internal Medicine in Cancer Management) has been prepared successfully.
Our theme for the next ROICAM, "STRENGTH in Diversity, EXCELLENCE in Care – Because Cancer Isn't the End of Everything," emerges from the recognition that cancer management is not a journey of a single discipline, a single profession, nor a single approach. It is a shared journey—one that demands diversity of knowledge, experience, perspectives, and compassion. Internists hold a central role in managing comorbidities, optimizing patient conditions, and improving quality of life, making collaboration and diverse competencies the foundation of exemplary care.
Through the implementation of ROICAM 13, we hope this program will not only enhance the knowledge and skills of its participants, but also strengthen multidisciplinary professional networks that contribute to a more comprehensive, humanistic, and sustainable cancer care system. For we believe that cancer is not the end of everything, and every patient deserves hope through care that is both high-quality and empathetic.
In closing, we express our sincere appreciation to all parties who have provided support—both morally and materially—in the preparation of this event. May this proposal serve as a comprehensive overview of the aims and benefits of ROICAM-13, and may it receive broad support to ensure the successful execution of a program that brings meaningful impact to the healthcare community and society at large.

The Indonesian Society of Hematology and Medical Oncology (ISHMO/PERHOMPEDIN) proudly announces our plan to host the upcoming ROICAM 13 – The Role of Internist in Cancer Management 2026, as part of our steadfast commitment to advancing excellence in cancer care throughout Indonesia.
The theme "STRENGTH in Diversity, EXCELLENCE in Care" was chosen to reflect the belief that true strength in cancer management emerges from diversity—diversity of expertise, approaches, multidisciplinary collaboration, and backgrounds across Indonesia. Through strong and complementary collaboration, we can deliver care that is more comprehensive, targeted, and quality-driven. For we believe that "cancer isn't the end of everything"—today's medical advancements not only offer the possibility of cure, but also provide survivors with a significantly improved quality of life.
ROICAM 2026 is designed as a scientific, educational, and collaborative platform to strengthen the competencies of internists across the full spectrum of cancer care. The role of internists within various levels of cancer care centers has become increasingly prominent in recent years—from prevention and early detection efforts, to shaping therapeutic approaches through multidisciplinary discussions, advancing research into cancer therapeutics, managing complex comorbidities, providing palliative care, and ensuring post-treatment monitoring and survivorship support.
We hope that this program will facilitate meaningful knowledge transfer, enhance service capacity, and open opportunities for partnerships with institutions and stakeholders across the Indonesian healthcare landscape.
With the support and collaboration of all parties—government, hospitals, academic institutions, professional organizations, and the healthcare industry—we are confident that efforts to improve the quality of cancer management will yield a broader and more sustainable impact.
With this, we present our remarks as the introduction to the ROICAM 2026 proposal. May our shared efforts bring meaningful benefits to the profession, to the healthcare system, and above all, to the patients who remain at the center of everything we do.
